Wear Pink for Yoga in October
October is not only the time of the year for rich colors, falling leaves, and fresh crisp breezes, it is more importantly Breast Cancer awareness month. Almost everyone knows someone who has been effected with cancer and has seen how troubling this disease is. I think bringing attention to breast cancer by talking about it and wearing pink this month are great ways to make a small difference.
A few students in my class asked if we could designate October to wearing pink each class and if we could chip in a few extra dollars each class to donate to breast cancer research. My students are such an incredible small group that want to make a change in this world. I agreed to their wonderful idea and am pleased to be bringing attention to a brilliant cause.
After class this morning I went out and did a little shopping to find some more pink yoga clothes. Here are some my favorite pink clothes as well as some of the new apparel I got today.
• Feel Your Boobies Foundation encourages women to preform regular exams and see a doctor. This store is one of my favorites and they have discounts in all their prices today.
• Avon has a great shop of fitness clothing that 100% of the proceeds go to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusades that support programs that help people get the treatment and care that they need. This sleepshirt costs 20 dollars, so lovely.
• Although you do not wear shoes in yoga class, I just bought a new pair of sneakers from New Balance that show support of the Suzan G. Komen foundation. They are bright pink and will bring lots of attention to the cause.
• On your morning walk to yoga class, the crisp fall air might be a little chilly so The North Face jackets are perfect for keeping you warm. I have had a breast cancer fleece for a couple years and just got a new one today.
The North Face jackets are so warm and why not get one that is for a good cause.
• I always love Under Armour’s work out and fitness clothing, it is very durable and lasts a long time.
They have an entire line of clothing, hats, bags, and shoes that support breast cancer research awareness. I have a pair of yoga leggings that I love, as well as a cap.
There are so many ways to bring awareness to breast cancer that don’t involve purchasing an entirely new wardrobe.
Volunteer, donate to a cause you believe in, walk in a research race, the options are endless. Do your part in changing someone’s life.
This October let’s bring our attention to this disease and do our part in finding a cure.
Namaste.
