DIY Home Décor - Terrariums
Yesterday was my good friend’s birthdays and she invited me to a wonderful organic restaurant for dinner.
I wanted to come up with a gift that was meaning fun and that she would really like. I was flipping through an old magazine to come with some ideas and saw a photo of a room with a terrarium. I haven’t seen one of them in forever and forgot how awesome they were.
I decided it would be a great gift that would continue to grow and be beautiful. I went to the store to pick up the supplies and couldn’t help my excitement and got enough to make two, one for my friend and one for the studio. They are the cutest little ecosystems you can keep in your house.
I couldn’t think of the last time I had a terrarium, I think it might have been in college. I somehow still remembered how to make them though. They are so easy and always turn out so beautiful.
When I had one ages ago, I loved how low maintenance it was and how it brought greenery and serenity into my life.
Here is how I made these fun little terrariums
• Pebbles or sand
• Activated charcoal
• Sheet moss
• Potting soil
• Plants of your choice
• Petrified wood
• Fill the bottom of the vase with about 2 inches of the pebbles or sand. Add about a ½ inch layer of the charcoal, sheet moss, and enough potting soil to cover the plant roots. Put the plants in the soil and cover the soil around the plants with the wood.
• To at a little unique touch I added some stones and a figurine.
• To maintain them, keep them in direct sunlight and spray with water about once a month.
I am so excited how they turned out. My friend absolutely loved it! I am happy when I am able to make someone smile so big about something so small and beautiful. I can’t wait for my yogi’s to see my cute little greenery added to the studio.
Have a wonderful Sunday,
Namaste.
